The International Student Program
BE PART OF A THRIVING CULTURAL EXPERIENCE!
The Eastern Townships School Board promotes opportunities for multicultural collaboration and understanding, by inviting students from around the world to participate in our short and long-term exchanges within our local elementary, high schools and vocational centres.
Students
By studying at the Eastern Townships School Board, you will be immersed in a bilingual (French/English) environment, renown for its integration of technology into the classroom and its commitment to student success. Our schools offer a safe and secure environment and unique experience for international students to acquire a 21st century education.
Create friendships and memories that will last a lifetime!
The Eastern Townships International Students Program has hosted close to 300 international students over the last five years, from various parts of the world, including China, Korea, India, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil. Come enjoy our beautiful sub-urban environment and immerse yourself in our rich culture, while being welcomed into a family through our homestay experience.
Homestay families
Host families are selected based on their desire for hosting a visiting student and their ability to provide a safe, welcoming and comfortable home that fosters a positive cultural experience. You will be given a fully furnished room and enjoy three nutritious meals a day in a supportive environment. Families are carefully matched with students based on shared interests and you will be encouraged to participate in daily activities as an integral part of the family (→Link Homestay families).
Homestay Coordinator
The role of your coordinator is to provide support and guidance to both you and your host family, ensuring a successful experience. The coordinator is responsible for thoroughly screening families and will arrange regular visits to confirm you are adapting well to your new environment.

“I love my host parents. They treated me like I’ve been part of the family from day one. They’ve done so many amazing things with me, and I’m really grateful to have been able to learn so much about Canada, its culture, and nature through them. […] They integrated me so well into family life, and thanks to them, I almost never felt homesick because I have a home here with them. They are the ones who made my exchange year truly special.”
