WHO MAY RUN FOR ELECTION AS COMMISSIONER FOR THE EASTERN TOWNSHIPS SCHOOL BOARD (ETSB)?

Every person who is entitled to have his name entered on the list of electors of the Eastern Townships School Board and who, on polling day, has been domiciled in the territory of the ETSB for six months or more may be elected as a commissioner for that school board  (Act respecting school elections, article 20).

2 steps:

-        Between September 19 and 24 until 5:00PM, the candidate must officially deposit the Nomination_papers

-        A candidate can be authorized by filing out the Application for Authorization; this form must be signed by the Returning Officer.

MAY A CANDIDATE SOLICIT AND RECEIVE CONTRIBUTIONS, INCUR EXPENSES AND CONTRACT LOANS FOR ELECTORAL PURPOSES?

Any candidate wishing to solicit and receive contributions, incur expenses and contract loans to finance their political activities must hold an authorization from the Chief Electoral Officer of Quebec, granted in accordance with the Act.

A candidate wishing to obtain such authorization for the October 29, 2017 election may apply immediately by contacting the Returning Officer for ETSB by email: or by telephone: 819-868-3100, ext. 55025.

The Application for Authorization and Schedule must be submitted in writing and contain all the required information. For more detailed information see the Guide for Authorized Candidate.

The mandatory rules for soliciting and receiving contributions, as well as for committing to or incurring expenses will be provided upon request.

The total amount of contributions by the same elector for the same fiscal year shall not exceed $300 to each of the authorized candidates.

TO BECOME A CANDIDATE FOR ELECTION AS COMMISSIONER FOR THE EASTERN TOWNSHIPS SCHOOL BOARD

A person must file Nomination_papers during the period from September 19, 2017 until September 24, 2017.

You may also contact the Returning Officer at 819-868-3100 ext. 55025 to obtain a nomination package and to receive additional explanations. Please note that the text to be submitted with the Minimum information to electors form must be submitted in both English and French to be deemed in conformity and be included in the Reminder Card.

It is recommended that candidates contact the Returning Officer in order to ensure the conformity of the process for filing a nomination.
