Principals and Centre Directors were asked the following questions
Do you like to use the laptops to teach? Why?
What impact has the laptop had in your teaching?
The laptops have opened up a new world of possibilities for students who are reluctant writers. The laptops have, as any change does, caused teachers to spend many hours learning, planning and adapting teaching – the ELS encompassed lifelong learning – teachers learning alongside with students.
Louise Caron, Centre Director
New Horizons
Yes I do because it brings the world into my classroom. It also serves as a huge engagement portal for at risk ADD profile students.
It makes project-based learning very easy to do. Teacher guided student centered learning would be impossible today without the resource of the laptop.
Andrew Retchless, Principal
Parkview Elementary School
The laptop computer is a wonderful tool for all our students. It is particularly effective with the intellectually & behaviourally challenged students. They are motivated to try new skills, whether it is research for a project, or simple editing of text. The laptop has definitely opened up the world to them, and I am encouraged to see the pleasure they have in learning. Good modeling is essential so professional development is key for all teachers.
