Eastern Townships School Board and the Commission scolaire du Val-des-Cerfs receive funding for infrastructure improvements to the Cowansville Vocational Education Centre.
Cowansville, June 21, 2006 – Mr. Pierre Paradis, MNA for Brome-Missisquoi announced an investment of close to $4.8 million for infrastructure improvements to the Cowansville Vocational Education Centre. The centre is jointly administered by the Eastern Townships School Board and the Commission scolaire du Val-des-Cerfs. The Ministry of Education, Sports and Leisure will invest $2,287,225, which is being matched by Heritage Canada, creating a modern, vibrant facility to meet the needs of the Anglophone population in the area.
This investment will complete Phase II of the centre’s plan, with the re-organization of all options and administration under one roof creating a ‘guichet unique’. The facilities for professional cooking will be moved and modernized, new labs for the accounting program will be built and space added to the industrial mechanics area. Future plans will also see the relocation of the current Adult Education facilities. These improvements will create a vocational education centre with state of the art facilities that offer one central location where clients will have access to all services.
Mrs. Yvette Williams, Director of Adult and Vocational Education Services, noted that the plans for the Phase II have been in the works for some time and this endorsement by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Leisure and Heritage Canada, solidifies the Eastern Townships School Board’s commitment to Vocational Education.
