EASTERN TOWNSHIPS SCHOOL BOARD PRESENTS AT NEW MILLENIUM LEARNERS CONFERENCE

Magog, February 9, 2010 - It is with great honour that the Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB) has been invited to present at the upcoming New Millennium Learners Conference in Vienna, Austria. This international conference on 1-to-1 computing in education is being hosted by the Austrian Ministry of Education and organized by the world renowned Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Centre for Educational Research and Innovation, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.

This three-day conference will bring together world leaders and experts in  1-to-1 computing to discuss and examine current practices, benefits, lessons learned and to provide opportunities for peer-learning amongst countries. The ETSB is the only public School District from North America that has been invited to join the prestigious panel of presenters and speakers. The implementation of the Enhanced Learning Strategy (ELS) has garnered international recognition of the ETSB as an innovator in the implementation of technology in education. Its work with the Government of Uruguay’s educators with their 1-to-1 deployment has placed the school board as a leader amongst its peers. “This is but one more recognition of the excellent work of our teachers, administrators, professionals and support staff. Our educators are emerging as pedagogical leaders and trailblazers. This invitation is a clear indicator that the world is watching our classrooms.” stated Mr. Ronald Canuel, Director General of the Eastern Townships School Board.

The ETSB will also be hosting an Education Technology Site Visit by the National School Boards Association (NSBA) of the United States in late March 2010. The NSBA Technology Leadership Network has been a strong proponent of the integration of technology in education since 1985.
