Our Centre is centrally located in the city of Sherbrooke, close to the University of Sherbrooke and easily accessible by public transportation. Full-time students from outside the Sherbrooke area may be able to use the regular school bus system, if space permits.
The Centre offers a pleasant physical environment, conducive to adult learning. Some students may qualify for a personal laptop computer, while others may use computers available in the classroom. The Centre has a gymnasium used for leisure and sports activities. A student-run canteen and lunchroom offers light meals and snacks during the lunch period. A science lab is available for students to complete science course requirements.
Student Enrolment: Over 400 full-time and part-time students attend the Centre over the course of a school year.
Reception, Referral, Counselling and Support Services (SARCA):
SARCA services :
- assist adults in identifying knowlege and skills they have learned outside of school, for possible credit;
- assist the adult in the development of their learning plan, including career counselling;
- refer adults to the appropriate outside service, if need be,where their needs may be best met;
- support and advise adults throughout their learning process.
Pre-Secondary and Secondary Education Services give adults the chance to continue their high school studies. By completing credits in English, French Second Language, and optional subjects, students may obtain a secondary school diploma.
Vocational Education Preparation Services provide adults the chance to obtain the pre-requisites for admission to a vocational education program.
Post-Secondary Education Preparation Services enable adults to obtain the pre-requisites for college or university studies. These may include Math, Physical Science, History, Physics, or Chemistry.
French and English Second Language Services are designed to develop communication skills.
Social Integration Services make it possible for adults with an intellectual handicap to learn the skills needed to function in their home and social life.
Literacy Services are offered to adults who wish to improve their reading and writing skills.
