December News Update

Transportation and Weather Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,

With the approach of winter, we would like to inform you of important rules to follow in the event of a school closure due to bad weather. The recommendation to close schools/centers before the start of the school day shall be made by the Director General and his team of Senior Administrators responsible for transportation. Once the decision to close is made, the Board will immediately contact the media to announce the closure. If no announcement is made, it means that the school will be open as usual. We invite you to visit the School Board Website and Knowlton Academy Website when possible to find more information.

Storm Days and Transportation services:

In the case of inclement weather, parents may choose to keep their children at home. When safety is at risk, the bus driver may decide not to complete certain parts of the bus route.  Measures will be taken to notify parents concerned, when possible. In the case of the cancellation of transportation services due to weather conditions or for any other reason, an announcement will be made on the following radio stations between 6:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. or at other times during the day if school buses must leave early:

We are presently working on Emergency Phone Chain per classroom, so that parents can be contacted quickly by other parents in case of an emergency school closing while already at school. These classroom telephone chains should follow soon.

Daycare:

Our Daycare Team would like to let you know that in the event of bad weather conditions, daycare will not be open.

In closing, I would like to remind parents to dress their children properly for our winter weather. The cycle 1 and cycle 2 students are required to wear snow pants at all times for outdoor play. Enjoy the winter and all it has to offer.

Happy Holiday Season!

Sincerely,

Nathalie Chartrand
